It has been a long and soggy limp into the season, although within the last few days, there has been a glimmer of a remarkable shining object in the sky, yes the sun has eventually got its hat on and come out to play. This has set me in panic mode, my inner voice screaming at me “Quick it’s dry and warm, this might never happen again! get as many plants in the ground as you can”.
At this point, in Spring every greenhouse in the land will no doubt be packed with seedlings, space on the growing shelves hits peak capacity, and it is a case of which to plant out first, with plants becoming pot-bound that you simply can’t face potting on again as it develops its triffid-like features. Alternating with the nightly cold sweats about whether those tender seedlings you decide to risk planting out will be warm enough overnight or if you’ve inadvertently made a big mistake.
Now if you're not a gardener or grower of any sort this may sound like a dramatic non-news story made up to fill a space in a newspaper but if you grow you will know it’s true.
